The term “PPC“
PPC or Pay-per-click, is a type of marketing in which advertisers pay a fee each time one of their ads are clicked.
The most popular form of PPC is Google Advertising which allows advertisers to bid for ad placement in a search engine’s sponsored links when someone searches on a keyword that is related to their business or business offering.
But what does this mean?
Every time an ad is clicked and sends a visitor to the website, the business has to pay a small fee to the search engine. When PPC is done correctly, this fee is greatly reduced because the visit is worth more than what you pay for it. For example, if it costs $2 for a click but the click results in a $200 purchase then the profit outweighs the click amount.
In order for PPC to be done correctly, it takes alot of work to build a strong campaign, including:
⭐️Researching and selecting the right keywords
⭐️Organising the keywords into well structured campaigns and ad groups
⭐️Setting up key PPC landing pages, optimised for conversions
⭐️Creative copy that matches SEO on website
If all of these are done correctly, Google can actually charge you less per click, due to relevancy. If PPC is done wrong, Ad spend can become extremely unprofitable.
So how does Google Ads work?
The Ads platform enables businesses to create ads that appear on Google search as well as other Google partnered sites. Similar to the explanation before, Google uses a pay-per-click model which allows users to bid on keywords and pay for each click on their ads.
Think of Google Ads as an auction, Google searches into the pool of ads, evaluates and chooses the winner and rank based on quality, relevance of keywords, ad campaigns and size of their keyword bids.
Google Ads work best with a focus on these 4 components (according to Google):
⭐️ Keyword Relevancy- This includes relevant PPC keywords, tight keyword groups, proper ad text, and SEO matching to website content
⭐️Landing Page Quality- Clear call-to-actions and tailored specific content is key
⭐️Quality Score- This refers to Google rating of quality, relevancy of keywords, landing pages and PPC campaigns. With a better quality score, more ad clicks are achieved at lower costs.
⭐️Creativity- Ad copy is vital, write ads demanding to be clicked
